What started as an exercise in early 2015 in recording the family tree of the Symington family in Oporto, Portugal, and
in particular in tracing the family’s link to Walter Maynard,
the first English consul in Oporto in the 17th century,
ultimately developed into a much wider exercise, that of recording the details of English/British individuals since
the 12th century who:
